Myths About Getting Toned Abs
When it comes to getting toned abs, there is a lot of great information out there which will help you achieve your goals. Unfortunately, there are also a lot of myths out there that could cause you to waste a lot of time with things that will not help you at all. Below are some of the most prominent myths about getting toned abs that you should know about.
Myth 1: The more you work out, the better your results. When it comes to getting toned abs, it is definitely important to exercise. However, exercising for longer periods of time or more times per week isn`t necessarily going to give you better results. When you want to build muscle, you will need recuperation time in between each workout if you want to see results. If you work out too frequently, your muscles will never get a chance to heal and therefore you will not build muscle. To get optimum results, workout three to four times per week, for about forty five minutes a day.
Myth 2: You don`t need a healthy diet if you do the right types of exercise. This one is incredibly false. Your body uses the nutrients, protein and vitamins from the foods you eat in order to rebuild your body and get toned abs. If you spend all of your time eating fast food, but working out a lot, then you aren`t going to see results. Your stomach muscles won`t mean anything if there is a thick layer of fat covering them, right? Eating a diet that is rich in nutrients and healthy foods is going to leave you much better off than an exercise routine with fast food as the diet.
Myth 3: Crunches are the best exercise for stomach muscles. This is false. Crunches are a good exercise for stomach muscles, but using them alone isn`t going to give you good results. This is because crunches work out mainly just your upper abdominal muscles. If you want to have that sexy stomach, you will need to combine these with plenty of lower abdominal muscle exercises. Crunches also don`t work for the muscles on the sides of your stomach, so you will need to add some of them into your routine as well. You will need to exercise each muscle set in your abdominal region if you really want to make a difference in your appearance.
Myth 4: The more repetitions you do, the better. This isn`t true. If you do a hundred repetitions of a really easy exercise, it is no better than doing eight to twelve repetitions of a difficult exercise. In fact, that is what you should strive for. Exercises that are harder to do are really going to be testing your muscles, which will make all the difference in the long run.
As you can see, there are many myths floating about telling you how to get toned abs. The majority of these myths are false, so make sure you research before trying a new workout technique.
